Quote/s of the Day – 9 November – Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran

“O God, who out of living and chosen stones, builds up an everlasting dwelling-place for Your Majesty – help Your people, who humbly pray to You and whatever material room Your Church may set apart for Your worship, let it bring also spiritual increase.”

“Stability and permanence are, perhaps,
the especial ideas which a church brings before the mind …
It represents to us, it’s eternity.
It is the witness of Him
Who is the Beginning and the Ending,
the First and the Last,
it is the token and emblem of
“Jesus Christ,
the same yesterday, today and forever.”

St John Henry Newman (1801-1890) Cardinalstability and permanence - st john henry newman - feast of the lateran 9 nov 2019

“God’s desire to build a spiritual temple in the world, a community that worships him in spirit and truth (cf. John 4:23-24).   But this observance also reminds us of the importance of the material buildings in which the community gathers to celebrate the praises of God. Every community, therefore, has the duty to take special care of its own sacred buildings, which are a precious religious and historical patrimony.   For this we call upon the intercession of Mary Most Holy, that she help us to become, like her, the “house of God,” living temple of His love.”

Pope Benedict XVI – 9 November 2008

"Religion must be like the air we breathe..."- St John Bosco With the Saints, we "serve the Lord with one consent and serve the Lord with one pure language, not indeed to draw them forth from their secure dwelling-places, not superstitiously to honour them, or wilfully to rely on the, ... but silently to contemplate them for edification, thereby encouraging our faith, enlivening our patience..." This site will mainly concentrate on Daily Prayers, Novenas and the Memorials and Feast Days of our friends in Heaven, the Saints who went before us and the great blessings the Church provides in our Catholic Monthly Devotions. "For the saints are sent to us by God as so many sermons. We do not use them, it is they who move us and lead us, to where we had not expected to go.” Charles Cardinal Journet (1891-1975) This is a papal fidelity site. 1. Those words are so true. Some non-catholics say we spend too much money on churches. I ask them do you think God would be honored by an outhouse? They say you give to theneedy. I answer, we do how about you?

  2. Amen! I have noticed in our parish that it is the cradles who help the needy – the ex-protestants not – I say this in a blanket manner but in our case, it is correct. Ex-calvinists, who are the great bulk of our converts here, changed the Bible to suit themselves and made the poor into the beast of burden and treat them accordingly.
