Thought for the Day – 24 November – The Solemnity of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year C, Gospel: Luke 23:35–43
“Jesus remember me”
These words are brought to mind by a line from the Eucharistic hymn “Adoro te devoto,” by St Thomas Aquinas – “I ask for what the repentant thief asked” (Peto quod opetivit latro paentitens). – “Jesus, remember me.”
What a beautiful aspiration!
Each day and throughout the day, we can ask Jesus for the many things we need, summing up our prayers of petition, by asking Jesus to remember us, according to His mercy, remembering not our sins (Ps 25:7).
And, like the good thief, let us ask at the moment of our death:
“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” (Luke 23:42)
“Angels, saints and nations sing
‘Praised be Jesus Christ, our King.
Lord of life, earth, sky and sea,
King of love on Calvary.”
Nice to hear from Jesus his first regal decree: « Today, you will be in Paradise with me ».

Sorry if I am repeating myself but when I was learning to pray the Rosary on a Sorrowful Mystery day I would sob and cry tears because I wasn’t there. I just wanted to be an insect at the foot of the cross and seeing how He was dying. I was so sad because I was so unworthy to be there

Magnificent meditation! Thank you!
I tend to always sob when during the Carrying of the Cross and the meeting with His beloved mother – I guess most mothers do.
