Our Morning Offering – 20 May – The Memorare

Our Morning Offering – 20 May – “Mary’s Month” – Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Easter

The Memorare
By St Bernard (1090-1153)
Mellifluous Doctor

REMEMBER,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known,
that anyone who fled
to thy protection,
implored thy help,
or sought thy intercession
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins,
my Mother,
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions
but in thy mercy
hear and answer me.
Amen

(The Express Novena you will recall, is 9 times the Memorare)

Passionate Catholic. Being a Catholic is a way of life - a love affair "Religion must be like the air we breathe..."- St John Bosco Prayer is what the world needs combined with the example of our lives which testify to the Light of Christ. This site, which is now using the Traditional Calendar, will mainly concentrate on Daily Prayers, Novenas and the Memorials and Feast Days of our friends in Heaven, the Saints who went before us and the great blessings the Church provides in our Catholic Monthly Devotions. This Site is placed under the Patronage of my many favourite Saints and especially, St Paul. "For the Saints are sent to us by God as so many sermons. We do not use them, it is they who move us and lead us, to where we had not expected to go.” Charles Cardinal Journet (1891-1975) This site adheres to the Catholic Church and all her teachings. PLEASE ADVISE ME OF ANY GLARING TYPOS etc - In June 2021 I lost 95% sight in my left eye and sometimes miss errors. Thank you and I pray all those who visit here will be abundantly blessed. Pax et bonum! 🙏

  1. Dear Ana,

Your last email has disturbed me. I can hear your anger and frustration. I know from earlier exchange of emails how difficult it is to live in S Africa. I was pondering your email and wondering how I might respond when an item on the radio here reflected everything you had said. (An Irishman who had been volunteering building social housing in one of the townships and got caught in the lockdown was interviewed about daily life in S Africa). I know from a young colleague who had spent a year in S Africa how much charity money is siphoned off in bribery ect., so I am going to ask you for your help. I would like to send a donation to you to help address in a very small way. Would you be so kind as to pass it on where it would be most useful. I entirely trust your on the ground knowledge and judgement. Yours in Christ Anne Marie

    1. Dear, dear Anne Marie – how very kind you are and completely correct on your assessment of the situation here.
Things are very tough and this virus has created an entire new and massive population of destitute and hungry people.
My heart breaks every time I get a call or am accosted in the town. I am known because I run a Charity Shop, which I began and continue to run (I am not allowed to open at present). Due to this virus I cannot make any money to assist the families who keep calling me.
The shop is run under the auspices of our Cathedral – would you be happy with me using the money to make up food parcels for a few families who I try to feed?
      Please let me know.
And Anne Marie, you will know, you will understand, how much your help is appreciated. When I speak to my Priest again I will ask him to email you and thank you personally.
Bless you, bless you, bless you!😇💖
