One Minute Reflection – 10 February – Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C, Gospel: Luke 5:1-11 and the Memorial of St José Sánchez del Río ‘Joselito’ (1913-1928) and Blessed Aloysius Stepinac (1898–1960) – Martyrs
And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid, henceforth you will be catching men.” 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.,,Luke 5:10-11
REFLECTION – “We, today’s Christians, have the joy of proclaiming and witnessing to our faith because there was that first announcement, because there were those humble and courageous men who responded generously to Jesus’ call. On the shores of the lake, in an inconceivable land, the first community of disciples of Christ was born. May the knowledge of these beginnings give rise in us to the desire to bear Jesus’ word, love and tenderness in every context, even the most difficult and resistant. To carry the Word to all the peripheries!”…Pope Francis – Angelus, 22 January 2017
PRAYER – Lord, my God, You chose us from the foundations of the world to be Your children. We pray that our courage may not fail us as we are attacked from all sides, as we struggle home to You. Grant that through the prayers of young Joselito and Blessed Aloysius Stepinac, we too may fight unto death for Your love and the glory of Your Kingdom. Through our Lord, Jesus, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever, amen.
