Our Morning Offering – 9 August – A Eucharistic Offering

Our Morning Offering – 9 August – Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

A Eucharistic Offering
By Thomas à Kempis (1380-1471)

Lord, all things in heaven and earth are Yours.
I desire to offer myself to You
in free and perpetual oblation,
so that I may forever be with You.
Lord, in simpliciy of heart,
I offer myself this day to You,
to be Your servant in service
and sacrifice of perpetual praise.
Accept me with the oblation of Your precious Body,
which this day I offer You in the presence
of Your holy angels, here invisibly present,
so that it may be to my salvation
and to the salvation of all people.

Our Morning Offering – 3 April – Strengthen me, O God

Our Morning Offering – 3 April – Friday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Strengthen me, O God
By Thomas à Kempis (1380-1471)

Strengthen me, O God,
by the grace of Your Holy Spirit.
Grant me the power to grow in holiness
and to empty my heart of all useless care and anxiety,
that I may not be led by the desire for earthly things,
whether of little or great value.
Help me to regard all things
in this world, as they are –
passing and short-lived –
realising, that I, too,
will pass away with them.
Nothing under the sun is lasting
but all is vanity and a chase after wind (Eccl 1:14).
Give me Your heavenly wisdom, O Lord,
that I may learn,
that the most important thing
is to seek You and to find You
and, above all things else,
to love You,
Amen

Our Morning Offering – 13 February – Let Your will be mine

Our Morning Offering – 13 February – Thursday of the Fifth Week of Ordinary Time, Year A

Let Your will be mine
By Thomas à Kempis (1380-1471)

Most kind Jesus, grant me Your grace, I pray,
let it dwell in me, work in me
and abide in me to the end.
Grant me always to will
and desire, whatever is most pleasing
and acceptable to You.
Let Your will be mine
and let my will ever follow
and be conformed wholly to Your own.
Let me ever will
and not will in union with Yourself
and be unable to will otherwise
than You will or do not will.
Grant that I may die to all things in this world
and for Your sake, love to be despised and unknown.
Grant me, above all else, to rest in You,
that my heart may find its peace in You alone,
for You are the heart’s true peace,
it’s sole abiding place
and outside Yourself, all is hard and restless.
In this true peace that is in You,
the sole, supreme and eternal Good,
I will dwell and take my rest.
Amen

truly believing that You are present

Our Morning Offering – 7 July – Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C

O Lord, my God,
May I be Worthy to Approach
Thomas à Kempis (1380-1471)

O Lord, my God,
grant Your servant the blessing of Your kindness,
that I may be worthy to approach
Your sublime Sacrament with true devotion.
Rouse me from the sloth
and idleness, which have gripped me,
that my heart may more readily be lifted up to You.
Come to me with Your saving Presence
and let me, in spirit, taste Your sweetness,
which lies hidden,
in the most Blessed Sacrament
as in a plentiful fountain.
Give light to my eyes too,
that I may gaze upon this great mystery
and strengthen me to believe it
with persevering faith.
It is You Who effect this work,
no human being has such power.
It is Your holy institution and not human invention.
No human beings are able to grasp and understand
these things of themselves,
for they are far above
even the keen intelligence of the Angels.
And shall I, a wretched sinner,
mere dust and ashes,
be able to probe and grasp
so sacred and incomprehensible a mystery?
Amen

Remember Your Mercies, Lord
By Thomas à Kempis (1380-1471)

How can I endure this life of sorrows,
unless You strengthen me
with Your mercy and grace?
Do not turn Your face from me,
do not delay Your coming,
nor withdraw Your consolation from me,
lest my soul become like a waterless desert.

teach me to live worthily and humbly in Your sight,
