Martyrs of Heraclea – 4 saints: A group of four clerics in Heraclea (modern Marmara Ereglisi, Turkey) who were arrested in the persecutions of Diocletian. They were imprisoned, abused and ordered to turn over all the scriptures that they had hidden from authorities; they refused and were executed together. Martyrs. – Eusebius, Hermes, Philip and Severus. They were burned at the stake in 304 in Adrianople (modern Edirne, Turkey).

I love your post about St Mary Salome. It’s good to get some detail about the human family of Jesus. Even allowing for legendary elements it’s good to be reminded that Jesus in his humanity was a specific individual with specific family relations and relationships. In his great wisdom the Father chose to redeem us by his incarnation in a human person, Jesus, God made Man. In this way, by his grace, we become worthy to share in the life of God himself. An almost incredible concept.
(I hope I have expressed this correctly. I know my understanding is true, but I am unsure of my capacity to restate it. If it needs correction please let me know.)

You have expressed that so beautifully and correctly, I would say, dear Anne Marie.
I am so happy you have the wisdom and insight to explain the importance of the ancient saints. Meeting them, brings us just that little closer to our beloved Lord.
AND yes – the Incarnation is the greatest miracle! Way too much for our little understanding. But we bow in adoration and gratitude.
