PRAYER OF ST. HILARY OF POITIERS
For Perseverance In Faith

Father, keep us from vain strife of words.
Grant to us constant profession of the Truth!
Preserve us in a true and undefiled faith
so that we may hold fast to that
which we professed when we were baptised
in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
that we may have Thee for our Father,
that we may abide in Thy Son
and in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, amen.

Our Morning Offering – 12 January

O sweet Name of Jesus,
holy above all names in heaven and on earth
and to which every knee,
both of men and of angels in heaven,
on earth and in hell shall bend.
You are the the way of the just,
the glory of the saints,
the hope of those in need,
the balm of the sick,
the love of the devout
and the consolation of those that suffer.
O, Jesus be to me a help and a protector
so that Your Name may be blessed for all times…

Our Morning Offering – 11 January

Grant that my soul may hunger after You,
the Bread of Angels,
the refreshment of holy souls,
our daily and super substantial bread,
having all sweetness and savor
and every delightful taste.
May it ever seek You, find You, run to You,
come up to You, meditate on You,
speak of You
and do all for the praise and glory of Your name,
with humility and discretion, with love and delight,
with ease and affection,
with perseverance to the end
and be You alone ever my hope,
my entire confidence,
my riches, my delight, my pleasure,
my joy, my rest and tranquility, my peace,
my sweetness, my food, my refreshment,
my refuge, my help, my wisdom, my portion,
my possession, my treasure;
in Whom may my mind and my heart be ever fixed
and firm and rooted immovably, amen.

Prayer to the Holy Name – St. Alphonsus Liguori

O my Jesus, You are the Saviour
who has given Your blood and Your life for me,
I pray You to write Your adorable name on my poor heart;
so that having it always imprinted in my heart by love,
I may also have it ever on my lips,
by invoking it in all my necessities.
If the devil tempts me,
Your name will give me strength to resist him;
if I lose confidence, Your name will animate me to hope;
if I am in affliction, Your name will comfort me,
by reminding me of all You have endured for me.
If I find myself cold in Your love,
Your name will inflame me by reminding me
of the love You have shown me.
I have fallen into so many sins
because I did not call on You;
from henceforth Your name shall be
my defense,
my refuge,
my hope,
my only consolation,
my only love.
Thus do I hope to live and so do I hope to die,
having Your name always on my lips.
Amen

Our Morning Offering – 7 January

O Christ, our Master and God,
King of the ages and Creator of all,
I thank You for all the good things
that You have given to me and for
the reception of Your most pure
and life-giving mysteries.
I pray You, therefore,
O good Lover of Humankind,
keep me under Your protection-
in the shadow of Your wings.
Grant that with a pure conscience,
until my last breath,
I may worthily partake of Your Holy Things,
for the forgiveness of sins
and for life everlasting.
For You are the Bread of Life,
the Fountain of Holiness
and the Bestower of Blessings
and to You we give glory
together with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever and ever, amen.

PRAYER of ST JOHN NEUMANN

My God, how great Thou art,
how wonderful in all Thy works!
Teach me Thy will that I may begin
and end all my actions for Thy greater glory.
Speak to me, 0 my God, let me know Thy will,
for behold I am ready to fulfill Thy
every command. The difficult, the irksome,
I will patiently endure for love of Thee.

PRAYER of ST ELIZABETH ANN SETON

O Father, the first rule of Our dear
Saviour’s life was to do Your Will.
Let His Will  of the present moment
be the first rule of our daily life and work,
with no other desire but for its most full
and complete accomplishment.
Help us to follow it faithfully,
so that doing what You wish
we will be pleasing to You,
amen.

Prayer of Saint Basil the Great

O God and Lord of the Powers and Maker of all creation,
Who, because of Your clemency and incomparable mercy,
sent Yoour Only-Begotten Son and our Lord Jesus Christ
for the salvation of mankind and with His venerable Cross
He tore asunder the record of our sins and thereby
conquers the rulers and powers of darkness;
receive from us sinful people, O merciful Master,
these prayers of gratitude and supplication
and deliver us from every destructive and gloomy transgression
and from all visible and invisible enemies who seek to injure us.
Nail down our flesh with fear of Youself and let not our hearts be
inclined to words or thoughts of evil but pierce our souls
with Your love,
that ever contemplating You,
being enlightened by You
and discerning You,
the unapproachable and everlasting Light,
we may unceasingly render confession and gratitude to You:
The eternal Father, with Your Only-Begotten Son
and with Your All-Holy, Gracious and Life-Giving Spirit,
now and ever and unto ages of ages, amen.

PRAYER OF ST. GREGORY OF NAZIANZEN
To The All-Transcendent God

O All-Transcendent God
(and what other name could describe You?),
what words can hymn Your praises?
No word does You justice.
What mind can probe Your secret?
No mind can encompass You.
You are alone are beyond the power of speech,
yet all that we speak stems from You.
You are alone are beyond the power of thought,
yet all that we can conceive springs from You.
All things proclaim You,
those endowed with reason and those bereft of it.
All the expectation and pain of the world
coalesces in You.
All things utter a prayer to You,
a silent hymn composed by You.
You sustain everything that exists,
and all things move together to Your orders.
You are the goal of all that exists.
You are one and You are all,
yet You are none of the things that exist,
neither a part nor the whole.
You can avail Yourself of any name;
how shall I call You,
the only unnameable?
All-transcendent God!

One Minute Reflection – 30 December

One Minute Reflection – 30 December

God sets a father in honour over his children; a mother’s authority He confirms over her sons…………… Sir 3:2

REFLECTION – Today, in the joyful atmosphere of Christmas, the Church, reliving with fresh wonder the mystery of Emmanuel, God-with-us, leads us to contemplate the Holy Family of Nazareth. From contemplation of this admirable model, the Church draws the values to hold up to the women and men of all times and all cultures………St John Paul

PRAYER – Holy Family of Nazareth, we pray for your help, that we may be granted the strength and courage to stand against all those who seek to destroy the life of traditional families. St Joseph, we pray too for your special intercession, as the Protector of the Holy Catholic Church. Amen (St John Paul)

Nativity Prayer of St. Ephraim the Syrian (AD 306-373)

The feast day of Your birth
resembles You, Lord
Because it brings joy to all humanity.
Old people and infants alike
enjoy Your day.
Your day is celebrated
from generation to generation.
Kings and emperors may pass away,
And the festivals to commemorate
them soon lapse.
But Your festival
will be remembered until
the end of time.
Your day is a means and
a pledge of peace.
At Your birth heaven and earth
were reconciled,
Since You came from heaven
to earth on that day
You forgave our sins and wiped
away our guilt.
You gave us so many gifts on the day
of Your birth:
A treasure chest of spiritual medicines
for the sick;
Spiritual light for the blind;
The cup of salvation for the thirsty;
The bread of life for the hungry.
In the winter when trees are bare,
You give us the most succulent
spiritual fruit.
In the frost when the earth is barren,
You bring new hope to our souls.
In December when seeds
are hidden in the soil,
The staff of life springs forth
from the virgin womb, amen.

Christmas Prayer of St Pope John XXIII

O sweet Child of Bethlehem,
grant that we may share with all our hearts
in this profound mystery of Christmas.
Put into the hearts of men and women this peace
for which they sometimes seek so desperately
and which You alone can give to them.
Help them to know one another better,
and to live as brothers and sisters,
children of the same Father.
Reveal to them also Your beauty, holiness and purity.
Awaken in their hearts
love and gratitude for Your infinite goodness.
Join them all together in Your love.
And give us Your heavenly peace, amen.

Nativity Prayer of St. Augustine

Let the just rejoice,
for theirJjustifier is born.
Let the sick and infirm rejoice,
For their Saviour is born.
Let the captives rejoice,
For their Redeemer is born.
Let slaves rejoice,
for their Master is born.
Let free men rejoice,
For their Liberator is born.
Let All Christians rejoice,
For Jesus Christ is born.

Our Morning Offering – 23 December

We love You, O God
and desire to love You more and more.
Grant that we may love You
as we wish to love You
and as we should love You.
O dearest Friend who has loved us
so deeply and redeemed us;
come and take Your place in our hearts.
Watch over our lips, our steps and our deeds
and we no longer fear for soul and body.
Yes, give us love, most precious of gifts,
which knows no enemies.
Give our hearts that pure love borne of
our love for us, that we may love others
as You love us.
O most loving Father of Jesus Christ
from whom all love flows, grant that our hearts,
frozen in sin and grown cold toward You,
may be warmed in the divine glow.
Help and bless us in your Son.
Amen

Our Morning Offering – 22 December

I beseech You, O my God,
that I may know You,
love You
and rejoice in you.
If in this life I cannot do these things fully,
grant that I may at the least progress in them
from day to day.
Advance in me the knowledge of You now,
that in the life to come it may be complete.
Increase in me the love of You here,
that there it may be full. O God of truth:
I pray that I may obtain that which You promise,
that my joy may be made full.
And in the meantime,
let my mind meditate on it;
let my soul hunger after it
and my whole being long for it,
till at last I enter into the joy of my Lord,
who is God, blessed forever. Amen.

Our Morning Offering – 21 December

Let my eyes take their sleep
but may my heart always keep watch for You.
May Your right hand bless Your servants
who love You.
May I be united with the praise
that flows from You, Lord Jesus,
to all your saints; united with the gratitude
drawn from Your heart, good Jesus,
that causes Your saints to thank You;
united with Your passion, good Jesus,
by which You took away our guilt;
united with the divine longing
that You had on earth for our salvation;
united with every prayer
that welled from Your divine heart, good Jesus
and flowed into the hearts of Your saints.
Amen

My most sweet Lord,
I offer and consecrate to You this morning
all that I am and have:
my senses,
my thoughts,
my affections,
my desires,
my pleasures,
my inclinations,
my liberty.
In a word,
I place my whole body
and soul
in Your hands.

O God of love,

You are and shall be forever

the only delight of my heart

and the sole object of my affections.

Since Jesus said “Ask and you shall receive”;

I do not hesitate to say,

‘Give me Your love and Your grace’,

grant that I may love You and be loved by You.

I want nothing else.

Our Morning Offering – 17 December

O Lord and lover of men,
make shine in our hearts
the pure light of Your divine knowledge
and open the eyes of our mind to the
understanding of Your gospel teaching.
Instill in us the fear of
Your blessed commandments,
that trampling upon all carnal desires,
we may enter upon a spiritual life,
willing and doing all that is Your good pleasure.
For You are the light of our souls and of our bodies,
Christ O God and we give glory to You together with
Your eternal Father and Your
all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit,
now and for ever, world without end. Amen.
