For Perseverance In Faith

Father, keep us from vain strife of words.
Grant to us constant profession of the Truth!
Preserve us in a true and undefiled faith
so that we may hold fast to that
which we professed when we were baptised

Grant that my soul may hunger after You,
the Bread of Angels,
the refreshment of holy souls,
our daily and super substantial bread,
having all sweetness and savor
and every delightful taste.
May it ever seek You, find You, run to You,
come up to You, meditate on You,
speak of You
and do all for the praise and glory of Your name,
with humility and discretion, with love and delight,
with ease and affection,
with perseverance to the end
and be You alone ever my hope,
my entire confidence,
my riches, my delight, my pleasure,
my joy, my rest and tranquility, my peace,
my sweetness, my food, my refreshment,
my refuge, my help, my wisdom, my portion,

Prayer to the Holy Name – St. Alphonsus Liguori

O my Jesus, You are the Saviour
who has given Your blood and Your life for me,
I pray You to write Your adorable name on my poor heart;
so that having it always imprinted in my heart by love,
I may also have it ever on my lips,
by invoking it in all my necessities.
If the devil tempts me,
Your name will give me strength to resist him;
if I lose confidence, Your name will animate me to hope;
if I am in affliction, Your name will comfort me,
by reminding me of all You have endured for me.
If I find myself cold in Your love,
Your name will inflame me by reminding me
of the love You have shown me.
I have fallen into so many sins
because I did not call on You;
from henceforth Your name shall be
my defense,

Prayer of Saint Basil the Great

O God and Lord of the Powers and Maker of all creation,
Who, because of Your clemency and incomparable mercy,
sent Yoour Only-Begotten Son and our Lord Jesus Christ
for the salvation of mankind and with His venerable Cross
He tore asunder the record of our sins and thereby
conquers the rulers and powers of darkness;
receive from us sinful people, O merciful Master,
these prayers of gratitude and supplication
and deliver us from every destructive and gloomy transgression
and from all visible and invisible enemies who seek to injure us.
Nail down our flesh with fear of Youself and let not our hearts be
inclined to words or thoughts of evil but pierce our souls

The feast day of Your birth
resembles You, Lord
Because it brings joy to all humanity.
Old people and infants alike
enjoy Your day.
Your day is celebrated
from generation to generation.
Kings and emperors may pass away,
And the festivals to commemorate
them soon lapse.
But Your festival
will be remembered until
the end of time.
Your day is a means and
a pledge of peace.
At Your birth heaven and earth
were reconciled,
Since You came from heaven
to earth on that day
You forgave our sins and wiped
away our guilt.
You gave us so many gifts on the day
of Your birth:
A treasure chest of spiritual medicines
for the sick;
Spiritual light for the blind;
The cup of salvation for the thirsty;

O sweet Child of Bethlehem,
grant that we may share with all our hearts
in this profound mystery of Christmas.
Put into the hearts of men and women this peace
for which they sometimes seek so desperately
and which You alone can give to them.
Help them to know one another better,
and to live as brothers and sisters,

We love You, O God
and desire to love You more and more.
Grant that we may love You

I beseech You, O my God,
that I may know You,
love You

If in this life I cannot do these things fully,
grant that I may at the least progress in them
from day to day.
Advance in me the knowledge of You now,
that in the life to come it may be complete.
Increase in me the love of You here,
that there it may be full. O God of truth:
