Quote/s of the Day – 30 December – Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph
“How important it is, therefore, that every child coming into the world
be welcomed by the warmth of a family!
External comforts do not matter,
Jesus was born in a stable and had a manger as His first cradle
but the love of Mary and of Joseph made Him feel the tenderness and beauty of being loved.
Children need this, the love of their father and mother.
It is this that gives them security and, as they grow,
enables them to discover the meaning of life.
The Holy Family of Nazareth went through many trials ….
Yet, trusting in divine Providence, they found their stability
and guaranteed Jesus a serene childhood and a sound upbringing.”
Pope Benedict XVI (Feast of the Holy Family 2010)
“Waste time with your children,
so that they can realise,
that love is always free.”
I thank and bless my parents for the love and care they gave to me and to my brothers and sisters, even when times were difficult. I never knew hard times or any insecurity although as an adult reflecting back I can see that times were very hard and very insecure.
I remember my mother saying that her parents must have had great love for each other too. I don’t know what specific caused her to think this but it is reflected in the love and care shared by my aunts and uncles.
I pray for all of us when this chain of love is threatened or broken. I commend my family and all families to the loving care and protection of St. Joseph. St Joseph, as you cared for and protected the Holy Family, protect my family too.

Amen Alleuia!
Beautiful – thank you Annemarie.
I wonder how many of us are left – with that sort of upbringing – that beautiful ‘Catholic’ home life. Nowadays, I have noticed with young parents, they speak of everything and anything in front of their children – how shielded we were!
BUT – from the lessons of my parents – I am doing the same for my children as I am sure, you and your siblings do and did.
