Holy Fathers of Merida
Martyrs of Emesa: Group of Christian women tortured and executed for their faith in the persecutions of the Arab chieftain Mady. They died in Emesa (modern Homs, Syria).
Martyrs of Heraclea – (3 saints): Group of Christians murdered together for their faith. The only details we have are three of their names – Clementinus, Philomenus and Theodotus. They were martyred in Heraclea, Thrace.
Martyrs of the Jaffa Gate:
• Blessed Déodat of Rodez
• Blessed Nikola Tavelic
• Blessed Pierre of Narbonne
• Blessed Stefano of Cuneo
I love this site. Every morning I read the list of saints and I go forward into prayer in their company. Today is the feast of St Lawrence O’Toole. He played a very important role in the life of my city and country. There are not many cannonised Irish saints, largely because we were cut off from the ‘official’ life of the Church as a result of persecution. Many of cyhe writings of our early saints were in Early Irish, which very few scholars are able to interpret. As a result the few who are known are very precious to us. You have a wonderful biography of St. Lawrence O’Toole on your site. However, I didn’t much like the You Tube link you included. It is inaccurate and trivialises the story of an important and serious person. I hope you understand how much I appreciate your work and I pray God’s blessing on it.

Thank you Annemarie – that is so valuable and I bless you! Oftentimes I have little time to watch the video, so I must definitely pay more attention to this aspect. Yes, I am quite sad when it is so difficult to find details on the Irish (and other saints) even though I have a vast collection of books. Many of our friends in heaven are waiting to intercede for us and so many only know of the few “famous” saints.
Please keep helping me along Annemarie
God bless you and yours.
