Our Morning Offering – 22 February – Ash Wednesday
The Glory of These Forty Days
By St Gregory the Great (540-604)
Pope, Father and Doctor of the Church
The glory of these forty days
we celebrate with songs of praise,
for Christ, by Whom all things were made,
Himself has fasted and has prayed.
Alone and fasting Moses saw
the loving God Who gave the law.
And to Elijah, fasting, came
the steed and chariots of flame.
So Daniel trained his mystic sight,
delivered from the lion’s might.
And John, the Saviour’s friend, became
the herald of Messiah’s Name.
Then grant, O God, that we may, too,
return in fast and prayer to Thee.
Our spirits strengthen with Thy grace
and give us joy to see Thine Face.

We have similar text that we pray in the Egyptian Orthodox Chruch . May God bless your work.

And your work too Minaki. (Which I enjoy and learn from).
Some of our Saints are the same, obviously, so your translation might just be different but the same original.
And a blessed Ash Wednesday and Lenten journey to you. 🙏
