Our Morning Offering – 24 July – Wednesday of the Sixteenth week in Ordinary Time, Year C
Lord God, Lift Me Up
By St John of the Cross (1542-1591)
Lord God, my Beloved,
if You are still mindful of my sins
and will not grant my petitions,
let Your will be done,
for that is my chief desire.
Show Your goodness and mercy
and You shall be known for them.
If You are waiting for me
to do good works
and upon their performance
You will grant my petitions,
cause them to be accomplished in me.
Send also, the punishment for my sins,
that is acceptable to You.
For how will I raise myself up to You,
born and bred as I am in misery,
unless You, Lord,
will lift me up
with the Hand that made me?
Amen
