“I desire mercy”:
namely, the loyalty of a heart,
that recognises its own sins,
that mends its ways and returns,
to be faithful to the covenant with God.
“And not sacrifice”:
without a penitent heart,
every religious action is ineffective!”
” If our heart is closed,
if our heart is made of stone,
then the stones will end up
in our hands and, then,
we will be ready
to throw them at someone.”
